With more than seven months still to go, teams from the Fashion Industry are already signing up for the industry’s leading outdoor fundraising event.
The ‘Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge’, taking place on Saturday 20th June 2009, will see teams from across the Fashion, Footwear and Fashion Retail sectors taking on a triple challenge amid the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.
With UK support from Corporate Clothing director-e, the challenge incorporates hiking on the beautiful Brecon Beacons Horseshoe, a demanding mountain biking course around Talybont Reservoir and a high-energy canoe relay on Pontsticill Reservoir.
As director-e founder Yvette Ashby says: ‘When CARE approached us and asked us for our help in promoting their events, we were absolutely delighted to become involved. The work that this charity carries out is so wide-ranging and life-changing that we just want to help them in any way we can.’
The 2009 event will be the fourth Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge. CARE Challenge manager Michele Evans explains why teams from the fashion sector keep coming back: ‘This event presents a fantastic opportunity for people from some of the industry’s top companies to engage with one another in a fun setting and a refreshing location,’ she says.
‘The CARE Challenge Team supports participants at every step from sign-up to completion, in terms of fundraising support, training advice and help with PR, so people feel well looked after before and during the event,’ Michele added.
Most importantly, the Challenge will be raising essential funds for leading overseas development agency CARE International.
CARE is one of the top three aid agencies worldwide. Whether supporting primary health care, promoting sustainable agriculture, educating marginalised children or developing savings or loan schemes, CARE’s programmes promote long-lasting change helping over 55 million people every year in 70 countries to find routes out of poverty.
An outdoor challenge is an unrivalled way to engender a lasting sense of team spirit among colleagues and for many teams, knowing their company is raising essential funds for CARE adds invaluable motivation and enormous satisfaction to their participation.
And, as the pictures show, the CARE Challenge is far from being just a stroll in the park, but a real test of individual and team endeavour.
Karen Curtet of Connect 2 Agencies, whose team has signed up for the second year running, recounts: ‘We were inspired to take part in the 2008 Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge not only by the wonderful work CARE does, but also the tremendous personal challenge it represented.
‘We trained hard and every bead of sweat counted because the event was a huge physical challenge. It was also the most rewarding thing any of us have ever done - the buzz as we crossed the finish line to the cheers of the CARE Challenge Team was amazing! The work of CARE is inspirational and humbling and it is for this reason we have decided to participate again next year.’
