A preview of what to expect at the Health and Safety North exhibition at The Reebok Stadium in Bolton on 5-6 October 2011
According to its organisers, Health and Safety North offers visitors a valuable experience in terms of education, the opportunity to meet the industry’s most respected organisations and to network with their peers. With high-quality seminar content, the biggest names in the health and safety sector exhibiting and the addition of the new ‘Cleaning & Hygiene Zone’ the event is definitely worth putting in your calendar.
Each year the event organisers work in partnership with the UK’s top safety companies, as well as the leading safety industry organisations to provide an exhibition and conference programme that are relevant to today’s workplace. The British Safety Council is the Official Educational Partner for the conference and the event is endorsed by the IIRSM and Safety Groups UK.
Kicking off the event on day one will be the seminar entitled ‘Put your chemical protective clothing to the test’, delivered by Ian Samson, manager, UK & Ireland, DuPont Personal Protection. The presentation will provide everything you need to know about chemical protective clothing as well as asking some fundamental questions such as,’ is your chemical protective clothing really protecting you and what does protection really mean?’
In a series of videos shown in the presentation, these questions have been answered by Professor Victor Tytonius, a scientist who specialises in worker protection and chemical protective clothing and materials. Professor Victor Tytonius leads you through some revealing experiments on the three most common materials: Tyvek®, Microporous Film and SMS.
In addition, event partner Ansell Occupational Healthcare, will be delivering a seminar entitled ‘Cut Protection and Cut Index; The Reality behind the Scores’. The presentation will be an insight into hand protection experiences and the deviation between laboratory test and shop floor reality. The seminar will look in-depth at the level of protection to better address glove performance requirements and optimise glove portfolio selection, as well as operator’s protection and satisfaction.
The latest safety products will also be showcased by exhibitors at this year’s event. Exhibitor Uvex, a UK market leader in safety equipment, will be unveiling and demonstrating its latest pioneering products.
Key attractions at the stand include Uvex’s leading-edge ‘Superfit’ spectacle and ‘Classic Mask’ combination and its ‘Pheos‘ safety spectacle. The combined Superfit safety spectacle and face mask is a compatible duo designed to neatly dovetail, providing in one fell swoop a high level of comfort for the worker, as well as protection from many potential eye and respiratory workplace hazards, in a wide variety of industries and working conditions.
Bollé Safety, designers and manufacturers of protective eyewear, will be launching B-Green, the world’s first 100% bio-degradable safety spectacle. The safety spectacle is made from corn extract, which meets the most stringent European Standards EN 1661F and EN 170.
All Bollé products provide the wearer with protection, style, comfort and an exceptional field of view due to their lightweight design, advanced material technology and Bollé Safety’s world renowned optical class 1 lens quality.
Also exhibiting its products will be PPE supplier 3M UK Ltd. Advice will be available at their stand from safety specialists on all aspects of PPE such as fit testing, product selection and maintenance of products.
Portwest Clothing Ltd, manufacturers of protective clothing, safety footwear and personal protection equipment, including specialist gloves, helmets and respirators, will also be exhibiting at the event.
A new element, which brings something different to the event, is the addition of the Cleaning & Hygiene Zone, sponsored by the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA), a trade association of suppliers to the cleaning industry representing over 200 manufacturers and distributors across the UK.
The Zone will feature exhibits from a number of providers of products and services and it also presents the opportunity for health and safety distributors who are considering expanding into cleaning supplies to find out further information, including details on membership with the CHSA. The main objective of the CHSA is to raise the long-term performance of member companies by assisting them in offering excellent customer service to end-users.
