Cotton Incorporated predicts the future for trends
Cotton USA and Cotton Incorporated were among the crowds at Texworld presenting their Cottonworks Library, exclusively for designers, garment manufacturers, brands and retailers and displays exclusive fabrics from cotton mills around the world.
Cotton Incorporated specialists at the event also gave visitors the chance to see their Fashion trend forecast presentations for spring/summer 2006.
The presentation set out six themes with varying shades including Secretive, Playful, Tranquil, Alluring, Introspective and Fresh. In comparison to last season’s brights and fluorescents, Cotton Incorporated believe the consumer is ready for something more sophisticated with muted tones and neutral shades.
Secretive takes its inspiration from Secret Garden with a delicate balance between strong and lighter colours. The light and breezy shades including Honeysuckle, Nighttime Jasmine and Willow work well with artistic prints.
Playful is youthful and casual and aimed at the weekend market. Kitcsh shades like Green Slime, Carbs and Monkey Bars are fuss free using canvasses, moleskin and rugby stripes and will no doubt be popular in athletic wear.
Tranquil takes luxury blends and matches them with shades that melt into one another and are reminiscent of a galaxy bar. Shades include Crème, Seashell and dusk on silk and cotton for the perfect feel next to the skin in warmer summer months.
The trend Alluring blends deep intoxicating tones against rainforest fresh shades including Blue Curacao, Hibiscus and Currant.
Introspective offers a clean, architectural palette with clear tones of white and yellow which make the shades more appropriate for spring/summer rather than the warmer shades for autumn/winter.
Finally, Fresh is perhaps the most dramatic palette of the bunch with shades so bright and bold they may be best saved for days when the sunglasses are close to hand. Perfect for sweltering summer days by the beach with shades aptly named Orange Crush, Seabreeze and Clown Fish.
